This large full service firm is very women-oriented, and it has created many benefits to appeal particularly to women, including flexible work arrangements and 12-week paid maternity leave. Many of the firm’s attorneys are active in many community, professional and civic matters. Associates receive in-house training in a variety of areas and early client contact and hands-on experience. There is a “business casual” dress code, but associates are expected to keep professional clothing at the office in case of short notice meetings. All associates are expected to spend at least 50 hours annually on pro bono, and this is part of their billable hour expectation of 1800.
Trademark, Copyright and Advertising Paralegal The candidate will assist attorneys with the management of routine and complex trademark issues from clearance to registration and renewal for client trademark portfolios. Will prepare and electronically file documents with the USPTO, including Trademark applications, Statements of Use, Extensions of Time to File Statement of Use, Section 8 & 15 Affidavits, Renewal applications and Assignment recordations. Will coordinate and maintain foreign trademark filing programs, i.e. instruct local agents, follow-up on actions due and communicate requirements and status updates to clients. Will correspond with foreign associates regarding existing foreign filings concerning requirements, prosecution and maintenance of trademarks worldwide. Will draft responses to office actions. Will monitor docket for assigned clients and follow through on actions and deadlines in a timely manner. The candidate should have experience with global clearance and filing programs helpful. Should have 5+ years' well-rounded trademark prosecution experience, including domestic and foreign filings; BA/BS degree, a paralegal certificate or relevant experience. Should be very organized and detail oriented and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment. Should be highly energetic with a "can-do" positive attitude. Should be team player with ability to work independently. Should have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
