Litigation Paralegal RESPONSIBILITIES: Create files, welcome letter, Set-up, organize, tab, index, and update documents into client files, exhibit books, administrative files, and/or billing folders; Draft Welcome Letter/Action Plan outlines to new clients, and close inactive cases, archiving; Court dates and deadlines; set and re-schedule court dates on Calendar and assign projects in Task Management Platforms; Draft Notices re same; E-mail/scan, fax, and mail documents with cover letters, notices, and proofs of service; obtain/produce documents; drop-off/pick-up documents from main office and post office; liaison to process servers, attorney service, and vendors, e-filing to court, setting up hand-filing, and serving documents; Follow up with clients for documents; Arrange, follow-up, and pay outstanding vendor invoices; Be well-informed and track approx. 50 litigation and negotiation cases; review court case summary, client file, client action plan; update in Task Management platform with monthly update that includes current status of the case, any underlying documents/correspondence; and action plan for the next month; follow up on action plans on a weekly basis; monitor, supervise and delegate tasks to Paralegals and Research Attorneys to make sure projects are done on time; be informed of general court deadlines; make sure everyone including Managing Attorney completes tasks on time and within deadlines; Prepare; file; and send the case management statement. Review court case summary, client file, client action plan; update in Task Management platform with monthly update that includes current status of the case, any underlying documents/correspondence; and action plan for the next month; Draft Status Reports and have reviewed by Senior Paralegal; confirm current status of case matter; lead monthly case reports meeting w/ Managing Attorney and Senior Paralegal; Contact clients re: status reports; Travel to court for trial, deposition, mediation, etc. with Managing Attorney; travel to Court for filing or obtaining court documents; researching, developing, and executing other projects assigned by Managing Attorney, Operations Director, or Executive Assistant. QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree; 2-3 years experience as a Litigation Paralegal for a Los Angeles county law firm in business, real estate, family, and/or breach of contract litigation matters; Paralegal certification (ABA accredited) preferred; Possess organizational and communication skills; Positive, proactive, high-energy attitude; Keen attention to detail, including the ability to compose, edit, format, design, and proofread grammatically correct correspondence, indices, and basic legal documents without errors; Dependable who manages time well, prioritizes effectively, handles multiple deadlines, and gets results; Highly proficient in software applications, including MS Word, Excel, Adobe, Asana, Bill-4-Time, Lexis-Nexis, DissoMaster; and local court and vendor web-based applications.
