Secretary/Paralegal The candidate shall primarily be responsible for word processing, use of the computer software systems in the office, maintaining office files, and will perform whatever other miscellaneous tasks are assigned by the attorneys. The primary duties of the Legal Secretary/Paralegal are as follows: Preparation of Documentation. Letters, legal research, fee contracts, wills, powers of attorney, deeds, trusts and other documents; Forms and papers for filing with courts or administrative bodies; Office forms; Organize files; Maintain calendaring system. Various items for community work. Maintaining Files: Oversee the set up of new case files; Aide in managing work flow for the case files. Back Up-Reception: Provide backup to the Legal Secretary/Receptionist which includes answering telephones for all lawyers in the office; Find out who is calling and purpose; Refuse most solicitations; Route calls to appropriate phones; If person is busy, offer to take message or put through to person's voicemail. Make appointments -obtain name and phone number of caller and purpose of requested consultation. Greet people coming in the door. Lock front door at noon and unlock at 1:00 PM. Lock front door when office closes at 5:00 PM.. Maintain confidentiality concerning clients and matters. Be familiar with basic office history (progression of lawyers as on letterhead, age of building, etc.) This is a part-time position.
