Defense Litigation Attorney Responsibilities: Review complicated answer files, counterclaims and direct suits served against company and handle litigation, including court appearances both in person and by phone Handle depositions, oral arguments, hearings and trials Track and respond to attorney correspondence throughout the litigation cycle, negotiate settlements and report to clients Work alongside local counsel in Pro Hac Vice capacity in states not licensed. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications: Law degree from an accredited university Current license to practice law in one of eight states and be admitted to practice in Federal Court. First-chair experience handling court hearings and trials in District and Federal Court Experience handling depositions, arbitrations, mediations and discovery. Must be currently admitted to practice law in Federal Court and be licensed in one of 8 states, preferably Colorado or New Mexico with 5+ years of experience. Significant civil litigation and trial experience. Must be able to confidently handle complex civil defense cases from start to finish with minimal or no supervision. Previous experience in FDCPA defense preferred. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and WordPerfect Ability to work long hours under strict, often short deadlines Must be able to communicate professionally and effectively verbally and in writing.
