Legal Secretary - Finance and Restructuring The candidate will prepare agenda and meet regularly with designated attorneys to coordinate, schedule, and follow through on projects and action items. Maintain electronic files; calendar hearings and deadlines. Prepare and submit conflicts check forms and new matter request forms; prepare engagement letters for new clients. Collect information from attorneys in order to prepare voluntary petitions, schedules, statements of financial affairs, master creditor lists, and numerous commencement pleadings for attorney and client signature. Format client information spreadsheets to prepare for importing into the bankruptcy program. Generate and finalize Table of Contents and Table of Authorities and draft template pleadings. Electronically file bankruptcy documents and various ongoing pleadings via the Electronic Court Filing System. Prepare and keep up to date government agency lists and client service lists. Compose correspondence to clients and courts; compose internal and external memoranda. Draft State and Federal Court forms for filings. Prepare discovery, request for production of documents, interrogatories; subpoenas and request for admissions; bate stamping. Support attorneys by preparing Secretary of State forms for wind down and dissolutions. Work with newspapers, obtain quotes and publish Notice of Dissolution Publications. Transcribe dictation; assist with attorney time entry; prepare and submit expense reports. Assist with special projects and collaborate as a team member with other support staff in performing any duties essential to the achievement of efficient operations. May be requested to perform other duties not listed above. The candidate must have 5 years of law firm experience as a secretary or high-level administrative assistant in the Bankruptcy practice group. Knowledge of Federal and State Court procedures and rules and experience with State and Federal e-filing is needed. Experience with calendaring hearings and deadlines is essential. Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, including Word 2016, Excel 2016; Adobe Acrobat; CompuLaw; PACER, EFS, Best Case, Lexis Nexis; NetDocuments is mandatory. A High School diploma or G.E.D. equivalent is critical.
