Conflicts Attorney Duties: Facilitating the conflicts resolution process for new business, providing legal analysis of potential conflicts of interest to the Ethics Committee Chairperson and firm attorneys. Researching and analyzing conflict waivers and engagement letters for consent to waive specific representations, in accordance with Rules of Professional Responsibility. Conducting in-depth research of conflict entities using external databases, such as Hoovers, Dunn & Bradstreet, Lexis and Edgar, to identify and/or rule out potential conflicts. Analyzing internal systems reports related to conflicts checks, client financial data and attorney timekeeper records to provide recommendation of conflict resolution. Interpreting and summarizing research results. Making recommendations to firm management regarding potential business conflicts identified through external research and analysis of potential conflicts. Ensuring issues are thoroughly vetted and documented for firm records. Serving as escalation point for Conflicts Analysts and troubleshooting conflicts issues through to resolution. Reviewing client Outside Counsel Guidelines for content and communicating conflict issues to the Ethics Committee and firm management as necessary. Making recommendations to department staff regarding updating and maintenance of internal conflicts data, related to the client. Troubleshooting conflict issues related to Outside Counsel Guidelines. Conducting ongoing review and maintenance of conflicts data to ensure subsidiaries and affiliates named in Outside Counsel Guidelines are current. Keeping abreast of federal and state regulations and other regulatory developments affecting the firm's conflicts of interest avoidance procedures and update conflicts database as needed. Identifying where ethical screens are required and make recommendations to Ethics Committee as to scope of screen notices. Working with department staff to ensure timely updates and maintenance of ethical screens. Making recommendations for terminating inactive screens. Qualifications: Juris Doctor degree. Active bar status in the District of Columbia. Must have 3 years practice experience. Must maintain active credit status for CLE or MCLE. Understanding of conflicts of interest, including the Rules of Professional Conduct. Knowledge of federal, state and municipal government organizational structures and advise Ethics Committee on issues as they relate to firm clients and/or attorneys regarding government entities. Strong focus on client service and responsiveness. Strong communications skills; ability to interact with individuals at all levels of the organization. Self-starter who can manage priorities, meet deadlines, and collaborate with other team members across the firm.
