Medical Malpractice Paralegal The candidate will be responsible to draft motions, subpoenas, correspondence, interrogatories/answers, and other legal documents. Answer, analyze and prepare discovery. Summarize depositions and discovery responses. Assist in deposition preparation, pre-trial investigations, trial preparation, including assistance with preparation of witnesses for deposition and/or trial and attendance at trial. Locate and retain expert witnesses. Prepare exhibits and other demonstrative evidence. Prepare, submit and follow up on HIPAA and other record authorizations. Conduct legal research and investigations as needed. The candidate shall have Associates Degree or BA in Legal Studies or Paralegal Certification preferred with 5+ years of Medical Malpractice experience (defense litigation preferred) and have excellent written and oral communication skills with ability to work well under pressure and ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment with or without direct supervision and coordinate multiple projects. Must be Analytical, organizational, and critical thinking required. Ability to plan, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks with minimal supervision. Understanding of medical terminology. Working knowledge of State and Federal Rules of Court. Flexibility for unscheduled overtime as needed. Ability to work in a team environment. Ability to properly capture time and bill according to guidelines. Highly proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. Working knowledge of FileSite or I-Manage and knowledge of legal research tools such as LEXIS and Westlaw.
