Though the Los Angeles office of this full-service litigation firm continues to specialize in complex insurance litigation coverage, the firm’s main office has recently tried to cash in on the technology litigation market to “bring some growth to the firm.” The transition has not been an easy one; the firm has had an unusually high attrition rate in recent years (insiders tell us some associates left to pursue government jobs but many departed for better money with different firms). However, while salaries remain slightly below market, many observers think the firm is capable of breaking through.
Immigration Paralegal, Employment, Labor, Benefits, and Immigration The candidate will provide leadership and support to clients and internal staff. Works under attorney supervision and is responsible for the quality of the work and ensuring deadlines are met. Will manage a varied and fast-paced caseload of corporate immigration matters with large degree of independence. Serve as a resource for client and office procedures. Communicate regularly with clients regarding procedural and case processing issues. Know procedural requirements for various types of nonimmigrant and immigrant visas and knows client processes. Responsible for updating and managing status reports and for updating databases for particular clients. Full utilization of case management and billing systems. Correspond with clients directly on case processing and other procedural matters. Run reports. Is able to prioritize own work and take on multiple projects. Mentor less-experienced staff and assist in training and reviewing workflow for particular clients.Must have 5+ years of experience in client-facing capacity with immigration law firm, department, or corporate immigration function. Must have experience with all aspects of business immigration particularly with the preparation and filing of H-1B, L-1, O1 , E visas, TN applications, J1 waivers, PERM, EB1 Immigrant Visa Petitions, Applications to Adjust Status and consular work.
