Senior Paralegal-Litigation The candidate will assist attorneys in all phases of the litigation process from discovery, through trial and post-trial findings and appeals. Manage cases independently and works under the general supervision of attorneys. Will serve as lead paralegal on assigned cases from inception to appeal and will be responsible for supervising paralegals and project assistants as necessary. Follow the ethical requirements as set forth by the Rules of Professional Conduct of the State. Manage document organization and production processes (hard copy and electronic).Collects materials from client, opposing parties, third parties, experts (hard copies, electronic data, physical evidence).Assist with the development and implementation of document review systems. Maintain chain of custody and manage logistics of production of documents (hard copy, electronic, native).Assist with bates labeling, substantive indexing of documents and other tasks related to general discovery preparation. Prepare for depositions: conducts database searches to compile documents relevant to deponent; prepare witness files chronologically and/or by subject matter; organize, prepare and tracks exhibits. Maintain deposition transcripts and errata sheets in organized fashion. Assist with the preparation and filing of briefs, appeals and other legal documents: compile appendices and exhibits, proofread and cite check for factual data, prepare table of authorities, e-file documents with court. Prepare for and attend trial: organize, prepare and tracks exhibits; assist with the preparation of attorney work product; prepare deposition designations; compile exhibits related to direct and cross examination outlines; assist with the set-up of trial site logistics and other trial related projects as assigned. Implement and manage organizational systems to maintain case calendar, pleadings, correspondence and related case documents utilizing Firm software. Manage and maintain Litigation Support systems (Relativity, CaseMap, TextMap) and third-party platforms. Offer suggestions to attorneys regarding most efficient technologies to manage client matters. Apply knowledge of litigation process, legal procedures, terminology and experience to efficient completion of tasks from pretrial through discovery and trial preparation and appeal. Analyze documents and materials: conduct factual and legal research and assemble for attorney use. Research may include blue booking, cite checking, proofreading of documents and transcript review. Process may involve utilizing additional software applications to assist in the compilation of tables of content and tables of authority. Prepare documents to include, but not limited to: privilege logs, binders, correspondence, reports to clients, document indices, abstracts, spreadsheets, and chronology of facts. Oversee other Paralegals, Project Assistants, and/or temporary help, as needed. Interact with outside entities (clients, government agencies, expert witnesses, consultants, other law firms, opposing parties, court personnel, etc.), manages relationships with supporting vendors (e-discovery, court reporters, trial support, etc.). Record billable and non-billable daily time entries in accordance with the policies and procedures of the Firm in the InTapp system. Maintain solid working relationships with peers, support staff, attorneys, clients, etc.. Other projects and duties as assigned. Bachelor's degree is required. Should preferably have 7+ years of experience as a paralegal in large law firm setting. Paralegal Certificate is a plus. Advanced understanding and proficiency with Relativity, CaseMap and TextMap. Knowledge of legal research tools, Westlaw and LexisNexis and PACER is required.
