Business Immigration Paralegal/Assistant Duties: Will assist attorneys in preparing, filing, and monitoring of various immigration matters, which requires detailed thorough knowledge of the immigration process for multiple case types that require client employer and sponsored employee interaction. Prepare immigration cases as assigned by attorneys and work with attorneys in the preparation, filing, and monitoring of various immigration matters submitted to the appropriate government agencies. Work with clients and sponsored employees to gather the necessary information and documentation to prepare filings. Evaluate cases and assist in providing case strategies and/or solutions to issues. Prepare forms according to information received from clients and sponsored employees. Prepare letters and other documents on behalf of the employer/client. Finalize documents after review by attorneys. File and monitor applications and petitions with appropriate government agencies. Run reports to assist in managing firm caseload. Provide company contacts with training and guidance regarding general business immigration matters. Perform research to obtain information on client employers or industries, current wages, processing procedures, processing times, etc. Contact relevant government agencies to obtain necessary information to alert attorneys of potential delays or possible problems in the processing of an application or petition. Keep abreast of current regulations and procedures relating to filing applications or petitions. Draft support statements, transmittal letters, and organize documentation for filing. Retrieve and/or return files. Create mailing labels for packages and track delivery. Assist with and review billings to ensure that billing guidelines are met. Engage in frequent contact with clients. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications : A Bachelor's degree or paralegal certificate. 3+ years of high volume, fast paced business immigration experience including experience with multiple case types from simple to complex filings within particular practice area(s), increasing level of independence in handling cases, and managing high caseload and working within strict timelines. Understanding the procedures and documentation required for cases to be filed successfully to meet firm's service standards and reviewing and catching errors and correcting the work of others. Excellent computer skills including MS Office and immigration forms and case management software. Ability to to handle prioritizing cases, managing caseload and other tasks (i.e. projects, firm administrative responsibilities, etc.) and meeting deadlines and goals. Good client service skills. Foreign language skills preferred.
