Immigration Paralegal I The candidate will responsible for providing general support to Paralegals and Attorneys with a variety of tasks and activities. This person will begin to learn and understand the immigration process by assisting in the preparation of documents and applications while learning how to communicate with clients. He/she must project a professional image for the firm through in-person and phone interaction. Prepare immigration cases as assigned by manager for submittal to the appropriate government agency. Work closely with manager to manage cases and to meet monthly filing goals. Understand the procedures and documentation required for cases to be filed successfully and following BAL's service standards. Work with clients to gather the necessary information and documentation in a timely manner. Prepare forms according to information received from clients. Prepare letters and other documents on behalf of the employer/client. Finalize documents after review by Practice Manager, Team Manager and/or Attorney. Ensure all deadlines are met. Provide information and assistance to clients regarding legal procedures (NOT legal advice). Run reports to assist in managing own caseload, Works with clients to obtain documents and information necessary to prepare applications. Drafts support statements and organizes documentations for filling. Files and monitors applications and petitions with appropriate government agencies. Performs research to obtain information such as background on a company or industry, current wages, processing procedures, stand processing times. Initiates contact with government officials to obtain necessary information to alert supervising attorney of potential delays or possible problems in the processing of an application, Demonstrates sound judgement are required. Ability to execute and work well with minimal supervision are required. Strong attention to detail and ability to catch errors and correct work and the work of others are required. Superior client service skills are required. Effectively able to prioritize cases, caseload and other assigned tasks (i.e. projects, company management responsibilities, etc.) are required. Ability to meet deadline and goals are required. MS Office, Scan/Copy; learn, apply and effectively navigate daily use of propriety software are required. Typically at least 1+ year(s) U.S. corporate immigration experience are required. Bachelor's Degree; 1-year law-related experience under licensed attorney; or, PL certificate from ABA approved program
