Senior Paralegal The candidate will provide high-level substantive paralegal services and support for the firms attorneys and clients; assist the firm with all levels of client case/matter management (both substantive and non-substantive); assist the firms management team in providing administrative leadership to enhance the efficiency of the firms systems and processes for the firms practice as a whole. Will be expected to provide will be performed under the supervision of an attorney but require substantial prior knowledge of laws, procedures, rules, and legal requirements within some specific practice areas. Draft ethics letters, engagement letters, disengagement letters, and conflict waiver letters. Draft documents, such as correspondence, status reports, summaries, memoranda, corporate minutes, financial records, governmental applications and forms and other documents as requested; Prepare factual summaries of client or file, including case-related documents; Review, analyze, organize, index and maintain files. Files consist of, but are not limited to, pleadings, memoranda, research, correspondence and depositions; document production; deposition, arbitration, hearing and trial notebooks; transaction and minute books or other corporate records; Perform general research, such as legal research and legislative history research; cite check briefs and other documents; analyze and summarize information obtained into a coherent written memorandum or brief for submission to attorneys; Keep abreast of changes in the law; Assist the Firm Administrator with development of firm systems and processes, including file management, client collections, business development/strategy, and training; Interact with clients and potential clients regarding marketing, intake, their relationship with firm, billing, etc. Takes leadership role in providing support/direction/supervision to Legal Assistants. Any other task required to assist the law firm function effectively, as assigned by the firms President, Firm Administrator, or the responsible attorney on a particular matter,. The candidate must have Associate degree or bachelors degree at an accredited institution; formal training from an accredited paralegal program or commensurate experience. Must preferably have 5+ years experience working in a law office as paralegal or legal secretary; experience in commercial and/ or business litigation matters. Must have demonstrated commitment to a career in the legal profession. Must have experience with filing documents in state and federal court and understanding federal, state, and local court-required rules. Should have high level of experience in Windows OS, Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat Pro, and basic database and case management systems. Should have availability to work late and be accessible by cell phone in the evenings and on weekends as needed. Should have ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously while completing tasks accurately.
