Litigation Legal Secretary The candidate will be primarily responsible for assisting attorneys with all aspects of litigation including discovery, court filings and trial preparation. Will support a desk with both Commercial Business and Labor & Employment litigation attorneys. Must have a thorough working knowledge of the Federal and New York court systems. Proficiency with Microsoft Word is a must, including the use of styles and the creation and formatting of pleadings and other complex documents including appeals, briefs, and tables of content and authorities. Litigation support duties to include assisting in all aspects of litigation including discovery and trial preparation. Preparation of legal documents and correspondence from draft and edits to final form. Will prepare and manually file documents in Federal and New York State courts. Will be composing materials such as general correspondence, discovery, pleadings, briefs and general administrative forms. Will be managing attorney calendars for hearings, depositions and other court related deadlines working with our litigation calendaring system, Compulaw, as well as using Outlook calendars to schedule other appointments and meetings. Answering phones, preparing and following up on matters relating to document preparation and time keeping/billing. Assist with client engagement and retention including preparation of engagement letter, conflict check and submitting information to accounting system. The candidate should have minimum of 5 years experience supporting attorneys working in litigation and transactional regulatory law; Through knowledge of and experience with federal and state court systems including federal e-filing and state court online filing systems. Should have extensive experience formatting discovery, pleadings and briefs, and generating table of contents using styles, and creation of table of authorities. Should have proficiency in Word 2013 or higher (using styles for TOC creation, track changes and document comparison) and MS Outlook; Experience with the following software highly preferred: NetDocs or similar file management system, CompuLaw, Best Authority and Adobe Acrobat Pro; Exceptional grammar, spelling, and proofreading skills; Fundamental knowledge of legal terminology, court rules and procedures; Practical knowledge of client billing. Must be proactive, service oriented, detailed, reliable, and have satisfactory references and background check.
