Temporary Immigration Attorney The candidate will represent clients before the Immigration Court, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Customs and Border Protection, the Board of Immigration Appeals, and the federal courts. Prepare and draft applications/petitions for immigration benefits. Advice and counsel clients on possible avenues of relief. Research case law, regulations, and statutes to help in defending clients and asserting their rights, and reviewing applications. Represent clients in family-based applications, consular processing, and other cases. Provide advice and representation to immigrants who are seeking immigration relief in the form of Asylum, VAWA, and U visa relief before the Immigration Court and the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services. Work collaboratively with partners and paralegals; and Conduct legal research and writing in support of both affirmative and defensive applications as well as in support of federal litigation and advocacy before various immigration agencies. The candidate should preferably have a Bar License. Must have a current bar membership in good standing for any state in the United States or the District of Columbia; demonstrated commitment to immigration law and related social justice issues; strong writing abilities, be a self-starter, and take initiative on assigned projects. Must be given preference to candidates with Spanish or Portuguese language skills; highly organized and detail-oriented, with excellent people skills and the ability to multitask.
