This is the Atlanta outpost of an international firm. Although this firm is international, it still has a decidedly regional feel to it, and it international only to service certain valued clients. Life is reasonably good in the Atlanta office, where there are attorneys capable of handling every measure of legal problem faced by companies or corporations. Although the litigators are able to become more specialized, corporate associates have a general practice, which ocassional spreads them (and their expertise) a bit thin. Lagging behind in compensation, this firm is dedicated to associate life issues, and has, as a result, a good deal of devoted associates.
Paralegal Duties: Perform full range of paralegal tasks from case inception through case closure. Maintain and monitor court deadlines for assigned cases and take ownership of case calendars. Prepare drafts of notices, motions, fee applications and proofs of claims, including organization of exhibits. Perform online PACER research. Prepare deposition notices; organize, maintain and prepare deposition materials, exhibits and summaries. Remain current in industry trends in Bankruptcy/Restructuring and the legal profession. Participate in case strategy meetings. Ensure expertise in technology relevant to the position; proactively use most current technology to further teamwork, client service, and efficiency. Electronically file documents with the Court through the ECF system under the supervision of an attorney. Handle routine calls and correspondence to creditors, outside attorneys, and clients. Qualifications: BA/BS required. Paralegal certificate a plus. 5+ years of commercial bankruptcy and litigation experience. Experience in managing both business bankruptcy and commercial litigation matters; case preparation from beginning to end; the ability to perform federal and state court filings; experience with trial preparation and trials; experience with document review software (Relativity, I-Pro, Eclipse); strong communication skills; the ability to collaborate effectively with clients, attorneys, and staff; the ability to self-manage and meet deadlines; and the ability to work overtime when needed. Mid-size to large law firm experience a plus. Experience with e-filing within the Federal Courts, specifically with both the U.S. Bankruptcy and the U.S District Courts. Ability to conduct research using various research tools, including the Internet, Westlaw, Dunn & Bradstreet, and Courtlink. Proficient in bluebooking. Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Strong sense of accountability, taking ownership over projects and responsibilities and resolving issues proactively. High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and organizational skills. Ability to assess information, anticipate issues and outcomes, and make effective decisions. Ability to manage multiple requests, assess priorities, and achieve solutions under deadlines. Strong written and oral communication skills. Excellent teamwork skills and a strong client service orientation. Flexibility to work overtime as required.
