This mid size New York office's practice is transactional in nature and focused on banking and real estate finance, development, and leasing. Attorneys represent domestic banks, investment banks, and U.S. branches of major European, Scandinavian and Japanese banking organizations. All beginning associates participate in a formal legal education program designed to acquaint them with the fundamentals of the firm's practice. Attorneys enjoy competitive salaries and benefits and are encouraged to participate in pro bono work.
Legal Secretary - Real Estate The candidate will support attorneys in a secretarial capacity and also work as a key team player. Will compose, edit and proofread correspondence and other documents. Develop a strong understanding of attorneys' practice and clients, including maintaining up-to-date calendar entries and meetings, client contacts, and client matter lists. Assist attorneys with the client billing process by opening new matters, drafting engagement letters, and reviewing or editing client billing invoices. Creation and maintenance of files and e-files. Make travel arrangements as needed. Process and reconcile expense reports in a timely and proficient manner. The candidate should have College degree or combination of relevant experience. Must have 3-5 years of work experience with a law firm (preferably real estate). Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite applications including Outlook, Word and Excel, as well as have experience with document management systems. Excellent interpersonal, communication and customer service skills and the ability to collaborate well in a team environment essential.
