Personal Injury Paralegal/Legal Administrative Assistant For Workers Compensation Cases The candidate will provides a full-cycle case management and support; reports to and works with the attorney(s) on the Workers' Compensation cases within the Personal Injury section. Opening file; complete File Opening Memorandum; draft Correspondence Sheet with Client information; add to attorney's contacts and attorney's case list with statute dates once a file number is assigned; complete all items on attorney's new client to do memo, to include ordering medical records; scan all signed documents into the Document Management System. Develop and maintain a strong tickler system Maintain case calendar. Direct client contact; office appointments, discovery, case monitoring. Medical records requests; review and organization. Cultivate and maintain relationships with case-specific medical experts staff. Develop and maintain proficiency in Microsoft Word for preparation of correspondence, pleadings, etc.. Draft medical expense exhibits. Propose settlement options with supervising attorney. Pleading preparation; discovery request or responses, motions, affidavits, petitions, etc.. Hearing preparation - draft necessary hearing pleadings and copies of our medical expert's deposition transcript. Assist attorneys in preparation for hearings. Send faxes, make copies, scan and import documents into DMS, send mail by FedEx, Certified Mail, Hand Delivery. Perform basic accounting procedures including various settlements throughout a case. Close files with Records when cases are fully settled and notify Closing Matters. Adjust to changing conditions, workload, procedures and duties A college degree required. Previous Worker's Compensation experience (1-3 years); claimant WC experience preferred. Proven ability to meet deadlines, multi-task and to work as part of a team, as well as independently. Strong technology and typing skills. Demonstrated ability communicate clearly in writing and verbally. Superior attention to detail; organization skills; flexibility and dependability; motivation are required.
