Paralegal for Litigation The candidate will provide responsibilities include: Work under the direction of the partners, attorneys and other paralegals in the Supreme Court and appellate practice group and the paralegal manager. Manage all Firm filings in the U.S. Supreme Court and will work collaboratively with Firm partners in identifying new opportunities for the Firm to engage in matters before the Supreme Court. Work under close supervision of partners, and associates in preparation and filing of the Firms Supreme Court briefs. These tasks may include factual and internet research, proofreading and cite-checking, drafting documents, preparation of appendices, - drafting transmittal letters and other documentation, and assist with the filing of briefs. The candidate will assist with other appellate matters as time may allow. Support the leaders of the Supreme Court and appellate practice in several capacities. Play a significant role in identifying new cases that may be ripe for Supreme Court review, working closely with practice partners in deciding which cases to pitch. Track all matters handled by the Firm in the Supreme Court and will maintain the appellate brief bank and the practices web presence. They also will manage monthly updates and client alerts relating to Supreme Court cases. Other duties as assigned. The candidate must have bachelor A?s degree and evidence of exceptional scholastic achievement. Background in, familiarity with, and/or educational training in performing substantive research projects is preferred. Strong interest in and basic understanding of the U.S. Supreme Court and appellate practice is preferred. Experience working with case management or tracking reports is preferred. Must have thorough working knowledge / familiarity with office software and database products (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint) and Internet search functions. Must have reasonable typing skills with accuracy. Experience with Relativity or other litigation-related computer applications and databases are a plus. Must be able to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, and communicate effectively with attorney-supervisors, clients, and government agencies. Must have proven skills in organizing and multitasking, with meticulous attention to detail and deadlines. Client relationship and communications skills, including evidence of excellent reading skills, writing ability with clarity, analytical skills, ability to summarize research results with brevity and professionalism are essential. Must demonstrate attention to detail, quality control, responsiveness, accuracy, and discretion, and accountability for deadlines and early identification of potential changes to schedule are required.
