This large international New York law firm founded in 1934 has established a full-service presence. Clients include large corporations and individuals as well as small and medium-sized businesses. The firm represents a wide range of industrial, financial and commercial enterprises, both publicly and privately held. Firm lawyers represent clients in every state as well as numerous foreign jurisdictions. The firm is organized by legal specialization: corporate, e-commerce, employee benefits, estate planning, government and regulatory affairs, health law, intellectual property, international, litigation and tax. This firm offers competitive salaries and many firm lawyers also practice interdepartmentally distinguishing them from many other large law firms.
Conflicts Attorney Duties: Conduct conflict analysis on new Firm business and lateral hires. Prepare, audit, and present conflict reports to attorneys to resolve issues in a timely manner. Consult with partners, Professional Responsibility Committee, and Information Governance to create and maintain effective screening restrictions. Review engagement letters and outside counsel guidelines to ensure Firm-wide compliance. Perform legal research, including review of case law and jurisdictional issues related to conflicts clearance, lateral hiring, ethical walls, and related issues. Requirements: JD Degree. Active member in good standing of Illinois or another state Bar. Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word). 3+ years of related work experience in a conflict analysis capacity in a large firm setting (preferred). Demonstrated ability to maintain confidential and sensitive data. Ability to learn new systems quickly and develop expertise based on emerging needs of the firm. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Database searching experience; experience with Intapp preferred. Familiarity with Capital IQ, Lexis Nexis and other research tools. Strong organizational and analytical skills.
