Paralegal (Bankruptcy) Candidate will support attorneys handling bankruptcy matters. This is a hands-on position that involves working collaboratively with clients and employees of the firm. Organizes and analyzes filings and pleadings relating to bankruptcy matters. Opens and closes bankruptcy matters by opening the matter, properly documenting and creating the case file and filing appearances as requested. Organizes and analyzes documentary evidence including claim file materials, expert reports, depositions, discovery, investigative and other materials. Under attorney direction drafts and prepares correspondence, objections, proofs of claims, notices, motions, bankruptcy pleadings, and other documents as necessary. Prepares and handles tracking or other requests for information. Ensures organization of files including maintenance and management. Monitors files and escalates issues requiring attorney involvement. Conducts legal research using online media for experts, background searches, case investigation. Maintains calendar for hearings and other important deadlines. Maintains schedules, coordinates and assists in preparation for hearings or other matters. Provides professional assistance and support to the legal staff in the development, research, management and resolution of the cases. REQUIREMENTS: High School Diploma or its equivalent. 3+ years of prior paralegal experience in bankruptcy law preferably in a high-volume, fast-paced law firm environment. Must have a demonstrated knowledge in legal research and bankruptcy motion practices and procedures. State and Federal Court filing including E-Filing experience required. Knowledge of how to bill time. Proficiency in LPS, Tempo, MS Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook and knowledge and application of legal research tools (Westlaw). Requires critical thinking skills, superior communication skills, organizational skills, research skills, analytical skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
