The firm also has been criticized in many respects for its lack of diversity; however, we do not believe that this is a serious problem because the firm's recent hires have all been very diverse in our opinion. The firm also receives very high scores for the treatment of associates by partners and there does appear to be a very good relationship here between associates and partners with associates feeling they are part of the mix to a great degree and respected by partners. Most associates at this firm would much rather stay with the firm than switch firms. In our book this is a good sign.
Commercial Litigation Paralegal The candidate will assist lawyers with all phases of case support including document/information management, factual and legal research and analysis, discovery, briefings, hearings, and trial support. Maintain positive contact with clients, lawyers, and staff, and observe confidentiality of client matters. Organize and maintain case files, pleadings, other documents, and attorney notebooks. Navigate different technology platforms efficiently. Review and synthesize historical documents. Summarize articles, reports, witness statements, and depositions. Manage source code reviews with an understanding of protective orders and e-discovery orders/stipulations for input to attorneys to ensure all procedures are met per client instructions. Keep accurate time records. Coordinate and attend client conferences, hearings, and trials. Prepare material for in-house and outside distribution. Draft legal documents and correspondence. Train and coordinate workloads of subordinate paralegal assistants as needed. Keep track of case/matter deadlines and interface with partners on case teams regularly to ensure deadlines are being met. Assist with budget monitoring. Maintain departmental form files and systems. Perform computer database input and retrieval with an emphasis on proficiency with e-discovery platforms including but not limited to Concordance and Relativity. The candidate must have a bachelor's degree and a paralegal certificate is preferred. Must have 7-10 years of paralegal experience. Must have experience with automated litigation support software. Experience with litigation trial procedures at the International Trade Commission is a plus. Thorough knowledge of all phases of litigation, discovery, and trial procedures. Thorough knowledge of the e-discovery process and understanding of each phase are necessary to instruct and advise on an e-discovery litigation plan from early case assessment through the production phase. Should have demonstrated skills in document /information management. Ability to express self effectively, both orally and in writing. Should have the ability to establish effective working relationships with Firm lawyers and staff, client personnel, and other professionals. Should have strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Sound knowledge of library operations and records storage procedures. Should have the ability to handle multiple tasks, and multiple concurrent deadlines, and work well under pressure and independently. Should have the ability to pass or have a current security clearance. Should preferably have demonstrated the ability to take initiative and to exercise discretion and independent judgment.
