Legal Nurse Consultant / Nurse Paralegal The candidate will assist attorneys in applying knowledge and understanding of medical, nursing, and health related issues to interpret medical records: Assessing Medical Records and analyze the case file by summarizing, translating and interpreting the records; Organize the medical records; Prepare chronologies of medical events; Defining the applicable standard of care and noting any deviations from and adherences to the standard of care; Assessing alleged damages/injuries; Identifying potential parties of the case; Locate, interview and prepare experts and witnesses of a case; Serve as liaison between attorney and healthcare providers, testifying experts, parties, witnesses and other consultants; Assist in trial preparation. Shall perform all assignments promptly, efficiently and courteously. The candidate requires a Bachelors degree, Certification as RN is a minimum with 5 years in clinical, surgical or emergency services. Legal Nursing Certification (LNC) is not required but is preferred. Should have strong understanding of the legal process with the ability to analyze and interpret medical records/facts and how they relate to and affects each case. Must have knowledge and comprehension in the law of the State of Florida, including State and Federal Rules of Civil Procedure and Discovery, Rules of Evidence and commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures. Ability to locate expert witness and interview them for possible case consulting/testimony is needed. Must be proficient in the use of computer software programs, including but not limited to Word and Excel; office equipment, including fax, copier, scanner, shredder and phones.
