Litigation Paralegal Candidate will obtain, organize, and maintain client files and records; digest, analyze, and summarize evidence, including depositions, public records, medical records, and other materials; handle intake phone calls; develop and/or maintain social media and website content; conduct client interviews; prepare basic motions; file and serve pleadings; aid in the preparation of discovery requests and responses; prepare demonstrative evidence and exhibits for hearings and trial; participate in team and case strategy meetings with attorneys, investigators, and expert witnesses; and aid in developing, implementing, and maintaining office systems for efficient workflow. Qualifications: Completion of a certified paralegal program approved by the American Bar Association AND 1+ year of experience in a law office performing paralegal duties that include knowledge and abilities listed above. OR 3+ years of experience in a law office performing paralegal duties that demonstrate knowledge and abilities listed above. Relevant experience and skills may be substituted for education/experience requirements in the case of an exceptional candidate. Must: Have a demonstrated professional and/or personal interest in our practices areas; Be a caring human being with the ability to be sensitive to legal circumstances and personal issues facing disenfranchised and marginalized people; Be able to work well with people from all backgrounds; Exercise a problem-solving and forward-facing mindset; Have the ability to work under occasionally stressful conditions; and Be detail-oriented, organized, and able to develop, implement, and maintain office systems. General knowledge of: Legal principles and practices; Civil and criminal legal processes; The content and language requirements of legal documents; The civil discovery process, including the mechanics of drafting and responding to interrogatories and requests to produce; How to decipher police reports, other public records, and medical records; Legal terminology and principles of legal writing; and Investigative interviewing techniques. Ability to: Prioritize caseload to meet deadlines; Extract and organize information from diverse, complex, and obscure sources; Produce clear and concise documents; Listen and communicate effectively; Work cooperatively and demonstrate leadership skills; Be flexible in changing circumstances and responding to emergencies; and Use tech savvy to help maintain office website, social media, and more.
