Litigation Paralegal (Entry Level)- Fall/Winter 2018 The candidate will participate as a team member and assists attorneys, mid and/or senior level paralegals and litigation technology professionals in various litigation matters by playing a key role in the work required to support the firm's clients. This hands-on position provides support as well as structure and process management through all stages of litigation, from initial case set up through trial and the appeal process. Manages and utilizes automated litigation support tools. Intermediate understanding of the overall litigation and discovery process; works directly with paralegals and attorneys in coordinating and executing requests. Coordinates management of case documents, including organization of client documents and opposing party productions; coordinates and manages review and production of documents. Creates and implements processes for paper and certain electronic document collection, and able to track documents with minimal supervision. Assists attorneys and paralegals in drafting privilege logs for production to opposing party. Creates and implements case file and organizational systems for electronic and paper case files and workrooms. Prepares for and attends depositions, hearings, trials and arbitrations, as necessary. Coordinates automated litigation support projects through utilization of technology, including, but not limited to, database management software (web or in-house) and Case Notebook. Compiles, reviews and analyzes documents as required by attorneys and determines necessary information. Performs research (factual, legal, internet, and other) to identify issues and relevant matters. Assists with preparation of court filings and assembling of exhibits and appendices. Understands mechanics of e-filing and assists with preparation of documents for same. Coordinates e-filings where necessary. Communicates, corresponds and interacts with clients and outside entities, such as, government entities, expert witnesses, vendors, corporations and other law firms to gather information or data. Complies with department and firm administrative procedures and policies. Assists with department projects as needed and performs other work-related duties as assigned by the Paralegal Manager. Strong knowledge of Adobe Acrobat and Microsoft office programs including MS Word and Excel needed. Responsible for billing a minimum of 1600 hours of client-related projects and other credited work. The candidate must have a Bachelor's degree from a top-ranked institution. Must have 1-2 years of litigation experience, experience with database management software, and general case collection, review and production experience. Must be able to demonstrate general knowledge and understanding of the litigation process and e-discovery. Must have significant collaboration with lawyers, paralegals and litigation technology professionals and requires excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
