Paralegal The candidate organizes and analyzes documentary evidence including claim file materials, medical records, expert reports, depositions, discovery, investigative and other materials. Answers and prepares discovery. Under attorney direction drafts and prepares discovery responses and requests. Prepares and handles tracking and disposition of subpoenas or other requests for information. Monitors files and escalates issues requiring attorney involvement. Conducts legal research using online media for experts, background searches, and case investigations. Request medical records. Maintains Master Production Log to track all incoming/outgoing requests. Provides professional assistance and support to the legal staff in the development, research, management and resolution of the cases. Performs other duties as assigned. High School Diploma or its equivalent is needed. Should have 2-3 years of prior paralegal experience assisting attorneys handling civil litigation matters, preferably workers' compensation. Experience in answering and preparing discovery is required. Working knowledge of paralegal concepts, procedures, and practices. Knowledge of operations, practices, and procedures of civil litigation. Must have a demonstrated knowledge of legal research. Knowledge of how to bill time. Experience reviewing and summarizing medical records is needed. Research, analytical, organizational, and critical thinking skills are required. Proficiency in MS Word and Outlook and knowledge and application of legal research tools (Westlaw). Should have critical thinking skills, superior communication skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
