Commercial Legal Assistant Paralegal The candidate will be responsible for performing a variety of general legal support tasks including b to: Review of contested files for determination of next course of action and proceeding as appropriate. rafting and preparation of legal documents, such as Complaints, Applications for Default Judgment, Motions for Summary Judgment and Motions to Compel Discovery and discovery responses. Assisting attorneys in litigation, including counterclaims, court documents, scheduling of court hearings and hearing preparation. Handle client inquiries and updates pertaining to individual files. Review and interpret disclosure agreements, credit applications, equipment leases, engagement letters, service agreements, etc. Maintains files, hearing notices, agendas, calendaring, etc. for each departmental attorney. Follow up with courts and other legal departments regarding filed documents and hearings. Other duties as required by the attorneys and department.
The candidate should preferably have 3+ years experience in attorney support and/or the collection legal field. 2+ years of formal legal training or equivalent experience is preferred. College Degree in Business, Criminal Justice, Paralegal Studies or related field is preferred. Experience in drafting pleadings, adversary attorney correspondence, and other related documents is essential. Should have competency in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel and Outlook. Organizational, verbal and written communication skills a must. Must have typing and keyboarding experience with 70+ WPM required. Strong attention to detail, the ability work independently, multi-task is required. Collection Law knowledge is helpful. Should have strong oral and written communication skills, strong computer skills (Microsoft Office) and the ability to multi-task.
