Mid- to Senior-Level Tax Attorney The candidate will be drafting tax documents and forms; drafting or reviewing tax disclosure for official statements. Will be ensuring all tax-advantaged financings for which Kutak Rock serves as counsel satisfy the federal tax requirements and conform to all federal tax restrictions. Advising clients and transactional attorneys within the firm of the federal tax requirements related to tax-advantaged financings. Brainstorming solutions to tax problems. Explaining the remedial action provisions of the Income Tax Regulations. Advising issuers and conduit borrowers with respect to rebate and other arbitrage compliance matters. Understanding yield calculation methodology. Serving as counsel to issuers and conduit borrowers during examinations of bond issues by the IRS. Counseling clients and other participants regarding miscellaneous tax issues such as original issue discount, market discount, bond premium, interest rate swaps, issuing bonds on a forward basis. The candidate should preferably have 3 years of experience in municipal finance. A candidate with a LL.M. in taxation is a plus. Must have a general knowledge of classification of different tax entities such as partnership, trust, custodian, and associations taxable as corporations; and serving as counsel to issuers, borrowers, and others seeking guidance regarding the federal income tax implications of owning or selling tax-exempt bonds. Should either be licensed to practice in the District of Columbia or qualify to waive into the District of Columbia Bar, have a strong academic background, and possess excellent research, writing, analytical, and communication skills.
