Paralegal Duties: Work with Litigation Practice Group. Obtains information required to comply with subpoenas, requests for production of documents, or other forms of pretrial discovery, and conducts investigatory research in litigation matters with attorney guidance. Maintains litigation electronic databases (Relativity, Eclipse, Xera) including uploading key case documents and emails. Maintains key case deadlines in the commercial litigation calendar. Researches and summarizes laws, cases, and files; presents a synopsis to the attorney for use in preparation for trial or responding to a legal issue. Ensures timely responses to legal notices and subpoenas. Receives service of process and coordinates timely assignment of cases to the litigation team. Organizes documents for pre-litigation matters or legal proceedings. Conducts fact gathering interviews and documents research. Prepares legal documents and business communications as needed. Performs legal research using provided resources. Assists with collection and production of relevant documents. Requirements: Paralegal Certificate or four year degree in Paralegal or Legal Studies is required. 3-5 years of related paralegal experience in a corporate or law firm environment is required. Previous paralegal experience in a litigation department is highly desired. Previous experience in a legal documentation management database is needed. Knowledge of legal processes and procedures. Strong attention to detail for cite checking. Experience in record keeping and management. Strong analytical and problem solving skills. Solid organizational, communication and time management skills. Demonstrated ability to employ judgment and experience to make decisions. Ability to handle a high volume of active matters and meet strict deadlines. Ability to work flexible hours/a flexible schedule to accommodate projects as needed. Candidate must be a self-starter who is driven to identify and act on opportunities for improvement in efficiencies in the delivery of highest quality professional services.
