Litigation Paralegal Duties: To assist the senior litigation attorney with handling of complex and serious personal injury Litigation cases with a case load of between 70-100 files. Regular communication with clients to provide case updates and to obtain information. Seasoned knowledge of medical issues in contested personal injury claims and of the civil legal and trial process.. Case management- follow and execute litigation plan set by attorney. Oversee Litigation Attorney s calendar and manage scheduling order deadlines. Schedule depositions, mediations, hearings, and case related events. Trial preparation- trial pleadings, exhibits, coordinate witness interviews. Prepare arbitration and mediation submissions. Prepare drafts of legal pleadings and discovery responses.. Prepare Summons and Complaints. File and serve Summons and Complaints and renew A&P Summons. Prepare affidavits and organize exhibits. Review and organize client information and files. Assist attorney in drafting legal documents and competing forms. Prepare for motion hearings, and prepare responses/replies to motions. Answer discovery request from defendants. Prepare files for hearings, subpoena witnesses, etc. Coordinate expert witnesses and investigators. Assist attorney with preparing memorandums and briefs. Requirements: Associate Degree required. Bachelor's degree preferred. 5+ years of legal paralegal experience preferably in civil personal injury litigation firm, including insurance defense firm. Experience working on complex liability claims and serious injury claims. Ability to write well and in an analytical manner and ability to persuade. Seasoned knowledge of medical issues in contested personal injury claims and of the civil legal and trial process. Ability to multi-task with high attention to detail. Proficient experience with MS Office products. Ability to prioritize job responsibilities to accommodate an ever-changing, fast-paced environment. Working knowledge of Needles system, a plus. Prior civil litigation Paralegal experience in North Carolina. People skills and communication are also critical in insuring world class customer service standards with clients.
