Business Development Liaison - Litigation The candidate will support the firm s litigation business by facilitating the exchange of business development related information with the Litigation Committee to ensure productive communication and completion of initiatives. Will focus on adding value to the goals of the Committee by suggesting initiatives and/or process improvements to the Committee Chair and/or the Director of Business Development. Maintain broad awareness of the firm s litigation activity as well as activity related to significant intellectual property cases including those heard by the Supreme Court and other appellate courts. Understand the firm s various litigation activities and effectively create written content regarding those activities through synthesis of various sources. Draft and edit written summaries of case wins. Conduct research for the purpose of providing attorneys the information to establish strategic direction, goals and initiatives as well as to identify appropriate new client targets, cross-sell targets and existing client expansion. Understand competitor activity, prospective clients as well as industry or market trends through competitive intelligence tools available such as Lex Machina, Docket Navigator and internet research. Possess awareness of litigation related marketing initiatives of other law firms to include, seminars, social media participation, marketing collateral, proposals, ad messaging, etc. Participate in the firm s PR strategic and tactical effort to identify opportunities and promote the firm s litigation practice. Work collaboratively to create content that both accurately represents the firm and effectively positions it in the legal market. Understand market trends and competitor practices regarding litigation budgeting, project management, and alternative fee arrangements. Ensure that all external communications and marketing collateral materials are continuously updated with the most current information related to litigation and new opportunities for communications are explored. Ensure that litigation information needed for all print and digital marketing communication, survey and nomination submissions, and proposals is current as validated by the applicable attorneys. Assist attorneys with litigation specific proposals and RFP responses and ensure accurate litigation information contained in all proposals and RFP responses. Coordinate the production of monthly newsletters distributed by the firm and work to grow the number of blogs. Monitor frequency of blog posts and ensure that post volume is adequate for successful blogs. Track and report results to the firm s Business Development Committee. Successfully coordinate litigation related events approved by the Business Development Committee for sponsorship. Handle the details and logistics related to assigned events which may occasionally require travel. Provide branding materials as required by the sponsorship agreement and within designated timeframes. Evaluate the cost/benefit of litigation specific sponsorship opportunities and communicate that information effectively. Work with litigation attorneys to ensure that shared contacts with the CRM are maximized for marketing and communication purposes. Additional duties as assigned by Supervisor, Chair of the Litigation Committee, or Chair of the Business Development Committee. Should have a Bachelor s degree. Experience as a paralegal or practicing attorney preferred. Excellent computer skills; proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and iManage or similar document management system essential. Effective writing skills; excellent proofreading, spelling, grammar and punctuation needed. Effective verbal communication skills essential.
