Senior Real Estate Residential Paralegal This candidate will assist the attorney in charge of residential real estate with all aspects of residential purchase and sale transactions, following each deal from its inception through the closing and post-closing phases. Will create, compose and edit transaction documents, including contracts of sale, deeds, assignments, affidavits, powers of attorney, and tax forms; review, coordinate, organize and maintain due diligence items, including title, lien searches, board minutes and managing agent questionnaires. Maintains up-to-date closing checklists for all residential transactions. Also prepare signature page packets and coordinate signatures of various transaction participants; handle closing statement and adjustments, including calculating all transfer taxes and tax adjustments; schedules, prepare for and attend meetings and residential closings and prepare closing indices and binders, and follows up on an extensive array of post-closing matters. Will also be responsible for coordinating among client, opposing counsel, and third parties to ensure relevant deadlines are met and closings occur in a timely fashion; performing building department, real estate tax, ACRIS, and other similar electronic searches; establishing and maintaining filings and records, in both hard copy and electronic formats; filing information in a timely manner; retrieving information from files as requested; managing the residential knowledge management database in accordance with firm standards and assisting with overflow work and other projects as needed. The candidate must have a Bachelor's degree. Must be a licensed notary. Must have 10+ years experience. Must have NYC co-op/condo experience and proficiency with ACRIS. Must be knowledgeable about NYC/NYS tax abatements. Should have proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook, as well as document management and other office technologies. Must have the ability to be resourceful and coordinate all phases of a closing. Have excellent interpersonal, verbal, written, and presentation skills. Should also possess strong problem-solving skills; exercises sound judgment and possess strong analytical and decision-making abilities. Must be able to work effectively with attorneys, clients, management, peers, and subordinates.
