Litigation Paralegal Duties: Under general supervision and according to established policies and procedures, provide support to the firm s attorneys and their clients; maintaining positive contact with attorneys (both internal and external), support staff, clients and vendors. Observes confidentiality of client and firm matters. Responsible for the accurate completion of work assigned by multiple attorneys. Responsibilities include preparing, filing and serving all pleadings and other court documents, review pleadings and other documents filed by opposing counsel, prepare discovery requests and responses, schedule depositions, mediations, and client meetings, and maintaining positive relations with clients through regular communication. Paralegals must also work as team player, assist with overflow work, maintain an excellent rapport with clients and follow procedures and guidelines set by the firm. Prepare, file and serve all pleadings and other court documents in litigation. Review pleadings and other documents filed by opposing counsel and other parties in litigation. Prepare and coordinate discovery requests and responses. Schedule depositions, mediations, expert witness testimony, etc.. Keep managing attorneys informed of all developments and actions taken in a case. Manage and coordinate schedule and deadlines for all cases assigned to managing attorney. Maintain positive relations with clients through regular communication. Proof reading documents and letters. Requirements: Bachelor or Associate Degree in Paralegal Studies or a Paralegal Certificate and 3-5 years of experience in personal injury litigation preferred. Must have high level of knowledge regarding key legal concepts and procedures. Must be able to organize and prioritize workload and use own judgment in decision making on how to adequately and efficiently meet all deadlines. Must display a professional manner with clients, attorneys, paralegals and other staff members. Must be able to make productive use of working hours and exhibit strong time and priority management skills. Ability to read and write English in order to perform routine office correspondence, pleadings and forms. Above average skills required on typing, spelling, sentence structure, proofreading and punctuation.
