Litigation Paralegal The candidate's responsibilities include: Organizing and coordinating complex litigation matters; managing and calendaring a large number of litigation deadlines; drafting legal correspondence and documents including pleadings, discovery, and motion papers; filing documents with court and county offices; arranging for service of process; scheduling depositions; secure court reporters; ordering medical records; assisting with discovery demands and responses; performing legal research; and assisting the litigation lawyers in any way necessary. May also have light overflow work as needed to support firm (i.e., filing, reception fill-in or backup, light office cleaning, etc.) and other duties as necessary. Candidate will be expected to take a lead role in all things administrative and paralegal related. 4-6 years of litigation practice experience required. Typing skills (60wpm or better) required. Microsoft Office Suite proficiency (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) required. Attention to detail and accuracy required. Ability to stay organized in a fast-paced setting required. Excellent in interpersonal communication, both written and verbal required. Professional direct client communication required. Office 365 / SharePoint familiarity preferred. LexisNexis familiarity preferred. Knowledge of New York State and federal rules of civil procedure preferred. Experience with electronic filing through NYSCEF and CM/ECF preferred. Ability to interpret and analyze legal authority preferred. Strong research and writing skills preferred.
