Intellectual Property Paralegal The candidate will assist, under the direct supervision of lawyers, in the preparation, filing, prosecution, due diligence and enforcement of patents with the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) and Patent and Trademark Offices in various countries. Will operate as a part of a team of lawyers and support staff to provide a high level of service to clients. Interested in candidates that are detail oriented team players, with strong communication skills and exceptional technical skills. Assists attorneys with both U.S. and foreign patent prosecution matters. Drafts provisional, non-provisional, PCT and design application transmittal papers. Drafts and coordinates execution of Assignments, Powers of Attorney, and Declarations. Draft Response shells, Preliminary Amendments, Missing Parts Response, Petitions, Request for Extensions of Time, Information Disclosure Statements, Notice of Appeal, Issue fee, Requests for corrected documents and performs status checks. Files chain of title documents. Drafts documents and responses related to PCT Applications, Request, Demand for Preliminary Examination, Request under 92bis, Response to Defects and Appointments of Agents. Draft and file National and Regional Phase applications in PCT countries and correspond with foreign associates. Legalizes foreign documents. Coordinates execution of foreign Powers of Attorney and Assignments. Drafts Reporting letters and fee reminders. Maintains docket - Knowledge of Anaqua, CPI or similar docketing system. Should have Bachelor's degree or certificate in paralegal studies. Must have 5 years IP with a strong background in patent prosecution, with managing a patent prosecution docket, including managing complex U.S. IDS practices and non-U.S. prior art disclosures in a law firm environment. Proficiency in MS Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint is required. Must have familiarity with procedures for billable time in time tracking program. Familiarity with Filesite a plus. Familiarity with electronic filing with the USPTO is required. Should have thorough knowledge of patent docketing procedures. Thorough knowledge of U.S. patent prosecution procedures and PTO rules and forms is required. Experience in patent management software systems, such as Anaqua and/or CPI is a plus. Bachelor's degree or certificate in paralegal studies required.
