Top Privacy Officer joins Hunton & Williams

Maureen Cooney, Chief Privacy Officer at the Department of Homeland Security will join the privacy and information-management practice of law firm Hunton & Williams. Working closely with colleagues leading the privacy group in other countries, Maureen will head the practice in D.C.

Prior to being appointed as Chief Privacy Officer at DHS in September last year, she served 11 years as Counsel at the Treasury Department. An international law firm with strength of more than 850 lawyers, Hunton & Williams has offices located in United States, Europe, Asia, and Africa, and South America.

Proskauer Rose forms multi-disciplinary Stock Options Task Force

International law firm Proskauer Rose LLP has created a new multi-disciplinary Stock Options Task Force to advise companies on granting & exercising of stock options, in consequence of an intensified regulatory scrutiny. Co-heading the Task Force will be firm partners—Robert J. Cleary, co-Chair of the Firm's Corporate Defense and Investigations Practice Group; Peter Samuels, Corporate Partner; and Michael Sirkin and Andrea Rattner, Tax/Employee Benefits Partners.

The team consisting of more than 25 attorneys will work on issues including internal and governmental investigations, tax, accounting, shareholder litigation, Sarbanes-Oxley ramifications and securities filings and restatements.

Bellavia Gentile names new Director

Bellavia Gentile & Associates LLP announced the appointment of Adam B. Schuman Director of Marketing and Communications. Schuman, a Merrick resident will be based at the Mineola office of the firm, and was previously Director of Marketing for Health Care Products in Amityville.

Former State Board Education GC joins Holland & Knight, IL

Holland & Knight announced that Jonathan Furr, former General Counsel to the Illinois State Board of Education will join its Chicago office. Mr. Furr will work with the municipal and real estate attorneys in the Illinois Land Use and Government Group, while also working closely with the Education Practice Group, in Washington D.C.

Prior to his appointment at the law firm, Mr. Furr was Chief Attorney at the 500 member State Education Board, and has served the Illinois Department of Natural Resources as General Counsel. Holland & Knight is one of the 15 largest firms in the world, providing representation in issues including business, litigation, real estate and regulatory law.

New Paralegal in DiLeone

Dara Lyon Warner is the new Paralegal in DiLeone & Associates, P.C. She has been hired to manage administrative and financial matters; to be involved in wills and estate administration and business incorporation matters; and meet with clients.

Warner, who served 20 years in the U.S. Army, is member of the Raleigh-Wake Paralegal Association, and has earned Professional Certificate in Paralegal Studies from Meredith College in May 2006. Raleigh-based DiLeone & Associates specializes in corporate and estate planning issues.

Linklaters NY office adds partner

Stan Renas has been named partner in the US structured finance & derivatives practice of Linklaters, New York. While he is the fourth partner to join the practice, the total number of partners at the firm's New-York office has moved up to 22.

Renas brings with him a breath of experience ranging from cash and hybrid synthetic CLOs; vehicle securitization dealings; insurance product transactions; and venture, off-balance, and tax-related financing. Prior to his appointment at Linklaters, he was at Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft LLP, and has also worked for seven years at Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy LLP.
